Melissa Whippo is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Yoga Instructor.
Melissa has provided therapy for individuals, couples and families for nearly 20 years. For over a decade, she has worked at UCSF Medical Center and currently provides therapeutic support for pregnant and postpartum patients. She co-founded the acclaimed Afterglow Postpartum Support Group and began a Pre-natal Yoga Program.
In her clinical work at the Center for Transformational Psychotherapy, Melissa offers therapeutic support to individuals and couples who seek emotional wellness. Working alongside a psychiatrist, she provides Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy to people who suffer from depression, anxiety, addiction, grief and trauma, and also provides integration sessions that do not include medicine.
Her approach is warm and personable. She combines traditional psychoanalytic theories such as object relations and attachment theory with somatic understanding. Melissa also utilizes aspects of yoga, mindfulness meditation and sacred plant wisdom.
We choose wholeness. Our stories matter. Create more space for your journey. Discover your medicine.
She supports people to integrate all the parts of themselves, as wholeness in mind, body and spirit enables all of us to thrive and offer our unique gifts to the world.
Integration is key to wholeness and wellness; I encourage you to share your story to expand your understanding of patterns, habits, and choices that currently limit your growth. I explore dream work, familial origins and trauma in service of your journey to heal and thrive.
In a direct but kind and loving way, I will reflect with you about your past and present experiences that keep you stuck in survival mode. Together we will reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, address trauma and grief, and create space for your healing.
The therapeutic relationship can be a mirror for other relationships in your life and constellation; within this safe container, we can explore what arises and create strategies that help you on your journey.
